Chopta Tungnath trek is considered as the most beautiful and easy trek in Garhwal Himalayas. This is ideal trek for beginners, Families and students. We can see all major peaks of Uttarakhand from Chandrasilla summit. Tungnath is worshiped as third kedar (One of the five Holy Shiva shrines in Uttarakhand). This trek is doable any time of year.

Day 01: Rishikesh to Sari village via Rudraprayag (7 hrs drive)

Trek to Devriatal (1800m / 5904ft; 2 kms; 1 hr trek)
After breakfast we drive from Rishikesh to Sari Village, our starting point of the trek. Devriatal is a picture perfect place for trekkers and nature lovers with its variety of birds and the great views of the Himalayas including Chaukhamba, Kedar, Neelkanth, Kirti stambh and many unnamed peaks are visible from there) Overnight camping at Devriatal.

Day 02: Devriatal to Chopta - (3000m / 9840ft; 12 kms; 5-6 hrs)

After breakfast we start our trail from Devriatal to Chopta, which is around 12 kms, a walk of almost 5-6 hrs. A gentle climb on the ridge connecting the meadows of Chopta and other northeast meadows towards Madhmaheswar. Today’s walk passes through dense semi alpine forest of Rhododendron and oak, there is also a possibility of seeing some wildlife as barking deer and sambar & lots of Himalayan birds. After a few ups and downs, a final climb will take you at the best camping spot and fabulous views of the Himalayas, a beautiful sunset to Chopta (3000m). Overnight camping / guest house at Chopta.

Day 03: Chopta to Chandrasilla and back - (4130m / 13564ft; 8 kms/ 4 - 5 hrs both ways)

After breakfast we do a day excursion from Chopta i.e. trek to Chandrasilla top via Tungnath temple which is one of the “PANCH KEDAR”. The pathway is gentle with few zigzag climbs till the Tungnath. A steep (1km) climb leads towards Chandrasilla peak (4130m), which best known for its breath taking views of Himalayas with views of Nanda Devi, Trisul, Dunagiri, Hathi peak, Neelkanth, Choukhamba and all connecting peaks towards Gangotri range can be seen from the top. We descend down to our base. Overnight Camping / guest house.

Day 04: Chopta -Pothibasa-Rishikesh

After breakfast we trek 6km downhill to Pothibasa. Our vehicles and drive 7hrs to Rishikesh.
