HALF DAY – CITY TOUR / TOUR OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES NEAR CUSCO – Shared Services

You will visit the city of Cusco, also known as the Imperial City and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will start your tour at the Koricancha Temple, an ancient Inca palace and cult center of the Sun God, above which the order of the Dominicans built a church, which remains standing to this day. Then, you will visit the Plaza de Armas, where you will visit the Cathedral, the most important temple in the city. Continue ascending to the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an impressive example of Inca military architecture. Afterwards, you will visit Qenqo, an archaeological site where the Sun, Moon and Stars were celebrated. Continue with a visit to Puca-Pucara, place that would have served as ‘tambo’ or resting place and lodging of the Inca. Finally, you will visit the art workshop Inka’s Expression, where you will appreciate a sample of the various uses of Peruvian natural products (plants, fruits, vegetables, among others) and will know their nutritional, healing and cosmetic properties. You will also have a chance to see the works made by members of the Misminay community.

FULL DAY – HIKE TO THE RAINBOW MOUNTAIN AND RED VALLEY WITH BOX LUNCH – Shared Services

You will be transferred from your hotel in Cusco at dawn (5:30 hrs.) towards Valle Sur, driving for 3 hours until reaching Cusipata and take the road to town Phulawasipata (4,626 MASL /15,177 ft.). Arriving to this community you will take a break to prepare and the start the trek skirting the route of a beautiful stream. In the ascent, you will start to enjoy beautiful landscapes and see flocks of Andean camelids as llamas and alpacas.
The highest Mountain in the region, ‘Apu Ausangate’, will show its majesty and you will be amazed by the mystique of the place making you feel the all the magic and energy, also, you have the opportunity to interact with the community members to learn more about their daily life.
After approximately 1 and a half hours or 2 hours, you will arrive to the main attraction of this experience: Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain (5,020 MASL / 16466 ft.) you will have enough time to explore the area, take photos and renew your energy that will help you start your way back (The time in the mountaintop will be 30 minutes)
After the visit to the mountain of Colors we prepare to continue the trek, until the same way to the detour that will take us to the Red Valley and after 20 minutes we arrive at the Mirador del Valle Rojo, to appreciate a beautiful landscape of mountains of red earth, here we will have 20 minutes to take pictures and rest a little and prepare for the return. The walk back will take between 1 and half hour or 2 hours until reaching the Phulawasipata community from here you will be transferred back to Cusipata for the lunch in a local restaurant, after lunch continue to Cusco.
