Be it For ‘Fun’ or a ‘Soul Searching’ Experience… traveling has it all !

Soul Searching Experience

Ours is a generation which grew up watching discovery & National Geographic Channel, so some years ago folks who were once students watching travel shows are now actually traveling & some have even become globetrotters getting to know the world in whatever way they can.

So ‘Why Do We Travel’ & here is one possible Answer – “we travel to find ourself(s)” and that my friend is the often heard line coming specially from the working class folks who would love to retire as early as possible.
Does that mean we have lost ourselves? May be …well I don’t quite feel I have fully lost myself yet! hehe!

However I do feel that from time to time I need to find myself! But then that’s just me !
I suppose ‘traveling’ means different things to different people, again travel comes in different shades each having it’s own peculiar alibi.

Then there are those who fall into the “need to know everything” category. I fully concur with travelers of this type as there are so many places to visit & so much to do, although today thanks to internet & google we are at least lucky to have a virtual tour of the places that inspires us to get up and go & see those places which have always been part of our “wish list”.

Hmm..There was a time when owning a good camera was considered to be some sort of an overindulgence. But today just about everybody in a way is a travel Photographer supported by one’s personal electronic buddies – aka smart-phones, Tabs etc ornamented with GPS & other travel apps that alerts one about various travel deals & also doubles up as virtual tour guides in a limited sense though. Moreover every ‘sight & sound’ is beautifully captured by the mobile cameras of today allowing instant sharing of pics & travel videos with our near dear ones at the touch of a button.

So in recent times, technology has become the “fun catalyst” which makes traveling just not an event but a rich experience for people to explore & share their travel exploits with others.
I for one consider ‘traveling’ to be one of the few things worth saving for, as for me it is about connecting the dots to know & appreciate how blessed we are to have inherited a rich planet called “Earth” & may I say there is only one earth.

And Before I could conclude I would just say this much – The beauty of travel is not in having a fixed plan and it is not about living in signature hotels or pursuing moments of luxury or comfort.
In fact Travel is a matter of being vulnerable to all the possibilities that life throws at us and in that we seek our own being of who we are… what we want to be… & where we are heading…!
