Kinnaur has a spectacular terrain of lush green valleys, orchards, vineyards, snow-clad peaks and cold desert mountains. This border district of Himachal Pradesh is also rich in flora and fauna and its culture and languages are different from other parts of the state. We begin our drive from Chandigarh and head to Shoja in the Seraj Valley. Shoja is a beautiful hamlet surrounded by thick canopy of conifers and deodars and spectacular mountain ranges. From here we drive to Sarahan, famous for its Bhimakali temple and entrance to Kinnaur valley. We conclude our tour with a visit to Narkanda, a small village known for its apples.

Day 1: CHANDIGARH – MANDI (196 km; 6 hrs)

Arrive in Chandigarh. After your briefing, drive to Manali. The drive is through mountains and winding roads. Dinner and overnight stay at Mandi.

Day 2: MANDI-SHOJA (2,692 m / 8,832 ft; 143 km; 4 hrs)

We leave for Shoja a drive of about 4 hours. Shoja is still an undiscovered and beautiful part of Himachal Pradesh and is located in the Seraj Valley. There are a number of short hikes one can take in the surrounding forests and meadows. On reaching Shoja we can stroll around and take in the beauty of the place. Dinner and overnight stay at Shoja.

Day 3: JALORI PASS (3,223 m / 10,750 ft; 5 kms) TREK TO SALOSAR LAKE (6 kms; 1.5 to 2 hrs one way)

After an early breakfast we leave for Jalori Pass, 5 km from Shoja. This pass links the Shimla and Kullu districts. After the drive we do a short 6 km trek to Salosar Lake. The trek is through a thick, oak forest and takes around 1.5 or 2 hrs. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the lake. Trek back to the pass. From the pass we drive back to Shoja. Dinner and overnight stay at Shoja.

Day 4: SHOJA – SARAHAN – SANGLA (2,165 m / 7,100 ft; 202 km; 8 to 9 hrs)

We proceed towards Sangla. Enroute we visit the Bhimakali Temple. This temple with its six, silver-coated doors is a mixture of both Hindu and Buddhist styles of architecture. The temple is surrounded by lofty deodar trees. Continue our drive to Sangla. Overnight at Camp.

Day 5: ACTIVITIES-TREK TO CHITKUL & LOCAL VILLAGE VISIT

Trek to Chitkul and visit a local village. Chitkul is the highest and the last village on the Indo- Tibetan trade route. We walk for 6 km to Nagasthi the last Indian outpost. Post lunch you trek back to Chitkul. From Chitkul we drive back to our camp. Dinner at Camp.

Day 6: SANGLA – KALPA (2960m / 9710ft; 50 kms; 2 hrs)

Morning is at leisure and after lunch we proceed for Kalpa. This picturesque little hamlet offers a breathtaking view of the Kinner Kailash range. Kalpa is also home to the chilgoza tree. In the evening we walk to Old Kalpa and visit the Kalpa Monastery. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: KALPA – NARKANDA (2683 m / 8803 ft; 213 km; 8 hrs)

We make an early morning start and drive along the Hindustan-Tibet road. This drive is truly spectacular as it seems to cut through the mountains. Dinner and overnight at a hotel or campsite.

Day 8: NARKANDA – CHANDIGARH (179 km; 4 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Chandigarh and transfer to the airport or the railway station for your onward journey.
