The Valley of Flowers is situated high in the Uttarakhand Himalayas, at an altitude of 3,600 m and is a monsoon trek. This valley is filled with dozens of rare, beautiful, Himalayan flowers. The entire valley is a is filled with flowers every year, taking on various shades as months’ progress. The valley is array of colorful blossoms, splashing streams and misty meadows. During this trip we also visit Hemkund Sahib, which is one of the holiest Sikh shrines in Himalayas.

This valley found discovered by the famous British mountaineer and botanist, Frank Smith in 1931. After he returned back to England he wrote a book called “The Valley of Flowers” which unveil the beauty and floral splendor of the valley and made it famous. Valley of flowers was declared a National Park in 1982, and now it is a World Heritage Site. The locals, of course, always knew of the existence of the valley, and believed that it was inhabited by fairies (anchries in local dialect). During this trip we also visit Hemkund Sahib; which is celebrated one of the holiest Sikh shrines in Himalayas.

• TRIP ARRANGEMENTS

During this organized Valley of flower trek, we will be staying in Hotel(s)/Guest house with attached bathroom and hot shower. Ponies are taken for our client’s duffle bags (10 kg), and you need carry only your day packs with packed lunch, water, camera and wind/water proof jackets. Road travel is done by comfortable jeeps or Tempo traveler depends on group size.

Water used for drinking is filtered, boiled and treated with iodine to make it extra safe before it is provided to you for consumption through the day. You can use bottled water in this treks however we discourage use of plastic on our trips. During this trip all meals are included (Day 01 B.fast to Day 06 Lunch) food is hygienically prepared and wholesome keeping in mind the nature of trip.

A Typical Day on the Trek/Trip: We follow 6-7-8 rule to wake up, breakfast and start our walk just after an energetic breakfast. Packed lunch is given for the day. It’s always greater to start earlier, people can enjoy their walk clicking pictures and admiring the magic of nature.

DAY 1: HARIDWAR-GOVINDGHAT (DRIVE 9-10 HRS)

Early morning arrive Haridwar railway station and drive to Govindghat via Joshimath. The entire drive is along the Alaknanda River. Lunch enroute at Rudraparayag. Arrive Govindghat and transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: GOVINDGHAT-GHANGRIA (TREK 14KM: 6 HRS)

Early morning after breakfast, we start our trek to Ghangaria. This day trek is steep in the beginning followed by gradual walk. After Bhuindar there is steep climb till Ghangria. Lunch on the way. Dinner and overnight Hotel. Ghangria is bustling mountain village with a big Gurudwara and several hotel and guest houses. There are hundreds of pilgrims and flower lover any time during July-Aug. Stay in Guest house.

DAY 3: GHANGRIA-VALLEY OF FLOWERS-GHANGRIA (TREK 10 KM: 5-6HRS)

Morning after breakfast start trek to Valley of Flowers. The first part of the trek is through thick forest along the Pushpavati River. Later we trek in the open meadow. Arrive and explore the area. After encountering rare Flowers e.g. Brahmkamal, Blue poppy, Potentilla, and hundreds of others we trace our steps back to the base camp, Ghangaria. Dinner and overnight in Guest house.

DAY 4:GHANGRIA-HEMKUND SAHIB-GHANGRIA (TREK 12KM: 6HRS)

Explore the Sikh shrine Hemkund sahib. Hemkund Sahib is celebrated on account of 10th Guru of Sikhs Guru Govind Singh ji; it is believed that he has done meditation in his previous life under these seven summits. There are plenty of flowers near the Gurudwara and around the lake. Return down to Ghangria for night stay.

DAY 5: GHANGRIA-GOVINDGHAT (TREK 14KM: 6HRS)

Our final trekking day will start with downhill walk to Govindghat. Dinner and overnight hotel

DAY 6: GOVINDGHAT-HARIDWAR (DRIVE 9-10HRS)

A day long drive will take us to Rishikesh/Haridwar via Rudraprayag. TRIP ENDS

I enjoyed traveling with Arjan. His trips are organized smoothly and he takes care of everyone personally. There’s always a spirit of fun around!
